On occasion when starting Sonar if the POD is on it will occasionally become the ASIO playback device (ie the POD becomes the soundcard in place of the 1212M). I typically use my EMU1212M ASIO as the soundcard but also have a PODxt Live. I do not know why but this happens with me as well.

I'm going to ask on the Line 6 forum, but thought I'd try here too. So I'm wondering anyone here knows what might be going on.

I'm also unable to get into the "POD X3 Driver Settings" and "Audio-MIDI Devices" settings in GearBox Preferences: I click the buttons and the mouse hourglasses for a half a second as though it's about to do something, but actually nothing happens. When I uninstall the L6 drivers, things return to normal. And merely having them installed seems to have had some effect on my ability to switch between WMD and ASIO.

Note that I'm NOT trying to actually record the X3 through the USB, and so I don't need to use the drivers for that purpose - I have them disabled and only *need* to have them installed so I can use the Gear Box editor (which really expands the usability of the POD and is HUGELY cool, by the way.) But I'd like to be able to have the option. honestly I'm not too up to speed on how all those aspects work and line up. Playback in Sonar will start OK but after some seconds it starts stuttering and actually starts to slow down, with strange pitch effects, as though there is a mismatch between the sample rates or clock speeds or. If the Line 6 drivers are checked and made available to Sonar in Options-Audio-Drivers, they seem to take precedence over my main M-Audio drivers. The thing is, after installing the GB drivers, it seems to have interfered somehow with my ability to use ASIO drivers in Sonar, possibly the WDMs too. I can insert it into a Sonar audio track, and it recognizes that the X3 is attached (the little USB icon stops blinking when the POD is on), but I would need to activate it to get it working.

But it also installed the GearBox VST plug in, but in an unactivated state. I thought that I was only installing the standalone GB editor. The L6 driver also shows up as a device in the Record Latency Adjustment field in the Audio Options-Advanced tab.

When I installed Gearbox, I knew it would have to install drivers so that the computer could talk to the POD, but I was a bit surprised to find that it installed audio drivers that are available to Sonar to be used as input and output drivers.

Previously I'd only recorded the POD from the hardware outs into my preamp. That was actually the first time I connected the POD through USB and used the Line 6 Monkey utility.

I've got a POD X3 and just installed the recently updated GearBox software editor. it's been in the back of my mind to ask about this. Glad to see a thread on using GearBox with Sonar. The one thing you don't get is a pitch shifter, for creating a slightly detuned sound - which is a pity - and a tube-mic model would have been nice too.Hi all. A noise gate is always available, so its a good idea to employ this when creating heavy overdrive sounds. There's also no shortage of fuzz and distortion devices, each of which has its own character. Of the effects, I particularly like the tape delay, rotary speaker and spring reverb, but the designers have really gone to town on filter pedals, and even some pseudo synth effects. There are some nice, jangly clean amps in there too - and they don't sound clinical or sterile: they ring nicely and respond well to dropping a compressor in front of them. If Uber Filth is your thing, there are plenty of more aggressive combinations to get you shredding, and no shortage of inspiration amongst the presets. Despite the huge range of amp types in the Platinum version, most players will quickly gravitate to the few that suit them best: I invariably end up looking for the best blues sounds that are just slightly dirty, because these tend to be the most difficult sounds to get right - but Pod Farm tackles them really well. Farm it may be, but there's nothing agricultural about the sound.
